Strategic Function 5: Capacity Building at Regional and National Levels for CAADP Implementation

COMESA plays an important role in improving national capacities to implement CAADP strategies, particularly with respect to CAADP Round Table processes, investment programme design, and policy analyses at both national and regional levels. Interventions target both institutions and professionals involved in the CAADP implementation agenda. Capacity building activities focus on:

Capacity strengthening. COMESA provides training for CAADP country teams from member states on Round Table processes, investment program design, monitoring and evaluation, and other related areas. COMESA also facilitates the provision of specialized training on policy analysis and planning tools, such as Public Expenditure Reviews and support to conduct Pillar specific training events on selected topics.

Collaboration, peer review and exchange. COMESA facilitates knowledge sharing and exchange in order to take advantage of lessons learnt and contribute to peer review processes. COMESA facilitates peer learning events, study trips, and other relevant activities such as participation in Compact preparation events.
